Design Notes

An old friend (and fellow member of a secret society I'm not allowed to talk about) Josh Glenn started the culture and semiotics blog Hilobrow back in 2009. The conceit was a genius one that I was a fan before I even knew it existed: that, unlike the old conceits about what is high brow or low brow, there is a potpurri of cultural items that can take an appreciation for the high-minded art and philosophy of the ivory tower and discuss it over dollar beers and honkey-tonk on the juke box: thus, Hilobrow, and the blog to examine it's many dimensions, was born.

I designed the logo for the Illicit Objects sub-brand, and am still an occasional contributor to the blog, which earned a Time Magazine Best Blogs of 2010 nod. Here are some of my spot illustrations and written posts.
